From September 9 to 21, archaeological excavations were conducted at the site of Prisunjača in Vođinci. The research involved Ina Miloglav, Jacqueline Balen, Miroslav Vuković, as well as international collaborators who spent several days in the field: Duska Urem Kotsou, Cristina Barrocas Dias, Jelena Bulatović, and Juan Jose Garcia-Granero. During the excavations, mandatory field practice was held for students from the Department of Archaeology, during which our collaborators delivered several lectures on archaeozoology and organic residue analysis.
During the research, we reached a second level of settlement at Prisunjača and uncovered the remains of an entire Vučedol house, where well-preserved ceramic vessels and other household items were found on the perfectly preserved floor. Material was also sampled for macro and micro-botanical analyses, as well as analyses of organic residue analysis. A refuse pit filled with fish remains is an interesting and rare find, and all the soil from the pit was dry-sieved, a process that will continue over the coming months.
After an excellent season, we will process the materials and documentation from the research, send samples for analysis, and we can certainly expect interesting results!
