Ivana Dimitrijević completed her doctoral studies in archaeology in 2021 at the University of Belgrade (Serbia). Her dissertation examined the economic and social significance of animals in Vinča culture settlements in the Morava Valley. Since 2011, she has been employed at the Institute of Archaeology Belgrade, where she has worked as a junior research assistant, research associate and, since 2021, senior research associate. As a team member or collaborator, she has participated in several Serbian and international archaeological and bioarchaeological research projects. From 2011 to 2019, she was a collaborator on the Institute of Archaeology Belgrade project “Archaeology of Serbia: Cultural Identity, Integrative Factors, Technological Processes, and the Role of the Central Balkans in the Development of European Prehistory”. She has analyzed animal remains from more than ten prehistoric and historic archaeological sites in Serbia and abroad. She has published 25 single-authored and co-authored scholarly papers and has participated in more than 20 national and international scientific conferences. She is a member of the International Council for Archaeozoology. Since 2025, she has also been a member of the editorial board of the volume “Arheologija u Srbiji: projekti Arheološkog instituta”. Within the framework of the project “Permanent Archaeological Workshop – Middle Morava in the Neolithisation of Southeast Europe”, she gives lectures on the fundamentals of archaeozoology to undergraduate archaeology students from Serbia and the wider region.
